A Pakistani daily has reported that the “UN Secretary General Kofi Annan would be chief guest at the launching ceremony of President Pervez Musharraf ’s autobiography “In the line of fire” in New York on Sept 25″.

Well, the General is indeed in the line of fire at his home turf. The killing of 80 years old Baloch leader, Akbar Khan Bugti has sparked widespread protest and unrest in Balochistan and Sindh provinces of Pakistan.

Even the Pakistani National Assemble saw unprecedented anger against Musharraf where members shouted slogans like “Qatil, Qatil, General Qatil”. ( Murderer General)

Akbar Khan Bugati was killed by the Pakistani army on 27th August. The whole of Pakistani media condemned this killing and Pakistani bloggers have been debating about the consequences of this killing. Some people are equating the killing of Bugti with that of the atrocities committed in erstwhile East Pakistan that later became Bangladesh.

In lighter vein, “In the Line of Fire” was a movie of Clint Eastwood, in which he played the role of a Secret Service agent who fails to save Kennedy, but is determined to save the current president from another assassin.
Maybe the General should consider alternative career in movies if he fails this litmus test:)
