   Hi,
   I really agree with you. Be it Mittal or Manoj Knight Shyamalan - India has no contribution in their achievements and they, too, haven’t recognised their ‘ties’ with India in any way..we end up looking pathetic, latching on to their success..especially Indian politicians should never use these names - if at all, all successful Indians have succeeded despite of the Indian system, not because of it for sure.

   हम भारतीयों को हमेशा से ही दूर के ढोल सुहावन लगते हैं। बिना कोई मेहनत के मेवा खाने की आदत सी हो गई है। ल्क्ष्मी निवास मित्तल ने खुद कभी अपने आपको भारतीय उद्योगपति नहीं बताया। न ही उन्होंने भारत में इस्पात की कोई कम्पनी की नींव रखी है। वे भले ही भारत में पैदा हुए लेकिन बिना यहां की सरकार का सहयोग लिए उन्होंने जापान से शुरू कर कई देशों में अपना दबदबा कायम किया है।
   इस्पात की दुनिया में अपना वर्चस्व स्थपित करने वाले मित्त्त्ल ने भारत को कभी अपने व्यापार के योग्य नहीं समझा। आखिर किस हक से भारत उन्हें अपना मान रहा है।
   कल्पना चावला, बॉबी जिंदल, शशी थरूर और नारयन कार्तिकेयन जैसे व्यक्तियों ने कभी भी भारत के सहारे प्रसिद्धि हासिल नहीं की है। उन्होंने अपनी सारी उपलब्धि और प्रसिद्धि विदेशों में ही जाकर हासिल की है।
   यह शर्मनाक बात है कि हम जबर्दस्ति औरों के ताज को अपने सर पर रखना भी चाहते हैं और उसका दुनिया भर में ढिंढोरा भी पीटना चाहते हैं। अगर कामयाबी का सहरा पहनना है तो सरकार को अपने ही देश से कीमती हीरों को परखकर तराशना चाहिए। अपने देश में गुणों का खजाना है। उन्हें पहचानकर अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर उठाएं ताकि वे खुद गर्व से कह सकें कि हम भारतीय हैं और वे खुद विश्व पटल पर भारतीय तिरंगा गाड़ें।

   क्यों किसी के जबरदस्ती गले पड़ना ?

   आखिर कब समझ आयेगी हमें……जो हमारा नहीं है उसे हम जबरदस्ती क्यों अपना बनाने चाहते हैं, उससे रिश्ता जोड़ने के लिए मरे जा रहें हैं।

   लक्ष्मी मित्तल हो, बाबी जिंदल हो या कल्पना चावला क्या इनमें से किसी ने भी सबके सामने जाहिर तौर पर कभी भारत जिक्र किया है अपने किसी रिश्ते को ढ़िंढोरा पिटते हुए जग जाहिर किया है नहीं ना तो हम क्यों उन्हें अपना कहें।

   क्या किया है उन्होंने इस देश के लिए यहां के लोगों के लिए कुछ नहीं। अगर ये कहा जाये कि उन्हें भारत के साथ अपना नाम जोड़े जाने तक में शर्मिंदगी महसूस होती है तो यह शायद गलत न हो।

   जिन लोगों को भारत से कोई लगाव नहीं, न वो हमारे संस्कृति को जानते हैं समझते हैं, यहां तक की हमारी बोली-भाषा से उनका दूर-दूर कोई नाता नहीं है तो वे हमारे कैसे हो सकते हैं।

   मैं भी आप से सहमत हुँ कल्पना चावला के लिये हम कुछ ज्यादा भावुक हो जाते हैं उन्होने भारत के लिये ऐसा कुछ नहीं किया जिसके लिये हम गर्व से अपना सीना फ़ुलायें।
   जिस महिला ने भारत से शिक्षा ग्रहण करने के बाद भारत से कोई नाता नहीं रखा, यहाँ तक कि विवाह भी गैर भारतीय से किया वो कैसे हमारे आदर्श बन सकती है?

   जहाँ तक बाक़ी मीडिया जगत से हमें जानकारी दी गई है- मित्तल भारत का पासपोर्ट रखते हैं, और भारत के नागरिक हैं. इसलिए अभी उन्हें तो अ-भारतीय नहीं कहा जाना चाहिए. अंतरराष्ट्रीय मीडिया भी उसे ‘भारतीय इस्पात व्यापारी’ ही लिखता है!
   (विचारों या रहन-सहन से भी वो भारतीय ही लगते हैं. कुछ उदाहरण: मित्तल के समान बच्चों की शादी पर दिखावे में करोड़ों फूंकने का उतना ज़्यादा चलन पश्चिमी देशों में तो नहीं ही है. कंपनी पर पारिवारिक पकड़ रखने की मारवाड़ी आदत नहीं छोड़ने के कारण ही आर्सेलर को अपने नियंत्रण में लेने में उन्हें देर लगी.)

   लंदन में भले ही मित्तल कई साल से रह रहे हों, उन्होंने ब्रितानी नागरिकता नहीं ली है. इससे पहले व्यापारिक जीवन में उन्हें प्रशिक्षण मुख्यत: इंडोनेशिया में रहते हुए मिला. पले-बढ़े वो कोलकाता में हैं. और उनकी जड़ें भारत में चुरू(राजस्थान) में हैं.
   मित्तल विदेशों में रहते हैं ग्लोबल बिज़नेस की ज़रूरतों के कारण. फिर भी अभी तक स्वराज पॉल और हिंदूजा बंधुओं की तरह उन्हें विदेशी पासपोर्ट रखने की ज़रूरत महसूस नहीं हुई है. पॉल और हिंदूजा के विपरीत मित्तल भारत में भारी निवेश भी कर रहे हैं…और जो कोई भारत में निवेश करता है उसका स्वागत होना ही चाहिए.

   खुले दिल से आपके संकीर्ण विचारो पे हंसने का जी हुआ, और आपकी अनभिज्ञता पे तरस भी आता है। आपके कथनुसार भारत मे कोई प्रतिभाशाली आगे नही आया क्या? कला, व्यापार, शिक्षा और बहुत सारे क्षेत्रो मे आज कई निवासी-अनिवासी भारतीय आधुनिक युग के प्रेरणास्रोत्र है। आपको कितने नाम चाहिए?

   सागर भाई, कल्पना चावला जिससे भी शादी करे, वह भारतीय ही रहेगी। अगर कोई उत्तर भारतीय, चेन्नाई मे बस जाए और किसी बंगाली से शादी करे तो क्या वह उत्तर भारतीय नही रहेगा?

   इस बात से सहमत हु कि अनीवासी भारतीयो की सफलताओ को मीडिया कुछ ज्यादा ही उछालता है। मगर मुझे सभी भारतीयो की सफलताओ मे गर्व तो है, चाहे वे भारत मे रहे या विदेश मे।

   और हां जैसे कि हिंदी ब्लॉगर ने बताया, मित्तल भारतीय नागरिकता रखते है।

   मुझे हर उस भारतिय पर गर्व है जो विदेश मे रहते हुये, व्यापार करते हुये भारतिय नागरीकता रखते है।चाहे वो मित्तल हो, हिन्दूजा हो या स्वराज पाल !

   हां अमर्तय सेन , कल्पना चावला, हरगोविन्द खूराना पर मुझे गर्व नही है क्योंकि ये भारतिय नही है!

    इस हिन्दी ब्लॉग का शीर्षक अंग्रेज़ी में क्यों है?

    ……..बड़े-बूढ़े इसीलिये सदियों पहले कह गये थे कि घर का जोगी जोगड़ा, आन गांव का सिद्ध!……..

    यह तो है ही. बस्तर में एक बड़ी स्टील इकाई बन रही है. निजी क्षेत्र की इस इकाई को राजनीतिक ग्रहण लगा हुआ है. तमाम विरोध किए जा रहे हैं. पर इसके मालिक विदेश जाकर सफल होंगे तो हम उनके गुण गाएंगे. लक्ष्मी मित्तल भारत के ही उद्योगपति थे. उन्हें भारत में अनुकूल वातावरण नहीं मिला तो वे विदेश चले गए. नतीजा सामने है.

    जिस देश में हर किस्म का निर्णय राजनीति प्रेरित, वोट बैंक गणित से होता है उससे और क्या उम्मीदें की जा सकती हैं.

    एक बात बताओ कल तुम्हारा भाई विदेश जाकर करोडपति बन जाए तो तुम खुश होओगे न चाहे वो तुम्हें मिलने न आता हो, सात समंदर पार हो, तुम्हें एक रुपया न भेजता हो। यही बात यहां पर भी लागू होती है, जब परिवार की बात हो तो भाई की बात करेंगें, जब देश की बात हो तो किसी भी भारतवंशी (भारत का मूल निवासी) की वात करेंगें।

    अगर तुम्हारा भाई विदेश चला जाए तो क्या वह तुम्हारा भाई नहीं रहेगा ?

    I have few issues here. Few persons are still indians and few are not. So lets talk about them.

    1. Kalpana Chawala: Yes we hyped about her and there was nothing she did for India.
    2. Sunita Williams : No, she is not Indian and she never visited India
    3. Bobby Zindal : do not talk about him, he is NOT Indian. I do not think even he knows where from his parent’s were

    I always hate when people just relate few guys as Indians. Life is not as easy as it should be. But connecting ourself to so many guys and making hypes about media is so stupid. If western prime-minister sneezes its big deal in our country, but if 150 guys die in Train accident there is no news in US/UK.

    More over - first/second generation Indians are happy where they are, few of them get success and we start associating ourselves with them. Its really really stupid. Most of these guys even do not do anything for our country or totally forget us. Its their life, let them do what ever they want to do.

    Indian Citizenship is the only thing whichh identifies an Indian. So on that ground Sonia Gandhi, L N Mittal are well respected Indian and I am very very proud of them.

    On the other hand. We really should stop doing that (like who is HP’s CTO or who is who) Like Vinod Khosla of Sun Microsystem! how does that matter? did they generate wealth for India?

    I am proud of Sabeer Bhatia, but not that much that we keep saying same thing over and over… its time to move on, and look around for more success.

    Its time for us figure out who is Indian and who is not. How many people know that still in Fiji, Maritus, Surinam and Trinidad, there are tons of people who really speak good Hindi, But they are not yet famous, the day they will get famous then you start praising them? thats really stupid.

    Please praise Azim Premji, Narayan Moorthy and many others who helped us shape their nation with so many political issues and problems.

    Hi,
    I totally agree with the author of the article.
    Mr Mittal’s success is all because of his hard work and his decision to leave india and try his hands in buisness in foreign countries.
    The analogy is like someone gave the neighbors a few seeds of a fruit plant. The neighbor went to his garden and sow them.He took care of the plant very well by giving fertilisers, water..and timely care
    and then one day this seed donor comes and starts demading the ownership on the plant or boost of the seed.

    And there is nothing wrong in going to another country and getting success and accept that that country has helped or cooperated in realizing ur dreams.

    We still think that skincolor determines nationality..but that is not right….

    but then also i proud on laxmi mittal bcz earning lot of money is not easy thing and if it is did by mittal in UK then this is achivement of mittal.

    I am not proud on India bcz today also to many pepole belive on cast system , untachebilty.

    We should not make fool ourselves that Mr. L. N. Mittal belongs to india. Do we have any right to say this? No. I think MR. L. N. Mittal has got all the status and name because of his hardwork. It is really 100% truth, if he would have been in India, he might have dissolve somewhere and might not get succeded. We should apperieciate and acknowledge his hardwork. Hats off to Mr. L. N. Mittal.

    I have seen Surinam, Guyana, Trinida and the people of Indian origin there are very very proud of their own Indian roots. All the personalities you mention may not be proud to day, their next generation may turn out to be different.
    I know a friend of mine who never taught Hindi or any Hindi prayers to his child. When child went to college as a young man and heard lot about Bharatiya culture and Sanskrit etc, asked his father:
    Dad why you never told me all those things?. WHEN THE THINGS SETTLE for a time, the things might be different. WE ARE PROUD OF THOSE WHO ARE PROUD OF BHARAT. Also see, there is much less competion in at least in USA. When I studied on week ends my competition is busy in movies, drinks, and dates. SO IT IS EASY HERE because …. of course my experience. I AM A PROD INDIAN any where India, or Africa, or USA . Madhusudan Uvach.

    i think, the corupted system of india is responsible for this. in some way or another every body hates this system. and if one gets a chance to get out of this. why he will miss it. in foreign countries they are getting much strong and favourable conditions. of course they want to do a lot for india. but the politics may not allow them. their soul does not allow them due to this system. WE HAVE TO CHANGE THIS SYSTEM THEN EVERY BODY WILL SAY PROUDLY THAT HE IS AN INDIAL BUSINESSMAN.

    such personality as indan.Though they are living and working in abroad they have been rooted in India.
